VOICE OF THE PEOPLE
Staff have months to prepare, elected members get weeks to discuss, community gets 3 minutes to present
Community Boards initiate changes, elected members decide funding priority and staff prepare implementation plans
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION
The Government announced their intention to reform Local Government.
There are too many unsustainable Councils and the cost of service delivery is driving unaffordability.
The building blocks for reform already exist within the existing Local Government structure.
The Mayor and Elected Members are controlled through Standing Orders. These Orders give control to the CEO, who approves all agenda, providing there us a staff report for each subject matter.
Restructure the Council meeting and accountability with CEO along the similar lines to a State Owned Enterprises Board operates.
